Embracing Your Path
In a world filled with expectations and societal norms, finding the courage to define and choose your own path can be a transformative and empowering process. In today's world, the pressure to conform to external influences can be overwhelming, and sometimes cause you to feel disconnected from yourself and left with more questions than answers.
From my own journey and from working with clients, I know how crucial it is to break free from these constraints and listen to the inner voice that guides our true desires. I have sometimes had to learn the hard way that the key to clarity and flow doesn’t lie in adhering to other people's expectations but in my ability to stay true to the answers to: Who am I? And: What do I want?
For many years I would (and sometimes still) confuse this attention to myself with being self-centered and selfish. But what I have gradually come to understand is how this kind of self-awareness is in fact what ultimately allows me to contribute to something outside myself and through that be a true resource for others.
Having the courage to follow your dreams and defining your own path in life isn't always as easy and straightforward as we would like it to be. I also know from experience that we all go through phases in life feeling stuck, sliding backwards and losing sight of our goals.
But as I am growing older, I am starting to accept that this is perhaps the work that has been cut out for me in this life and one that I will never fully comprehend, let alone complete.
So, instead of being consumed with trying to plan and predict my journey ahead, I try to let myself be led and inspired by five guiding principles that I find important to help me stay focused and therefore want to share with you:
Pay attention to your inner voice: Train the ability to listen to yourself, your own inner voice, rather than being dictated by external influences. Make choices that align with your core values and true self.
Gain clarity on your impact: Gain clarity on the impact you want to make and stay open to the various ways it may manifest in your life. Avoid attaching yourself to a specific outcome and let life unfold organically.
Follow your dreams and stay focused: Listen to feedback but have the courage to ignore the judgment of others. Pursue what truly matter to you even when it takes standing against societal expectations and norms.
Embrace risks and consequences: Be willing to take risks, even if it means facing consequences. Sometimes, letting go of certain things in life opens the door to something new and fulfilling.
Acknowledge the curvy path of life: Remember that life's path is rarely a linear progression. It's a curvy and sometimes bumpy ride filled with challenges and surprises.
In the words of a wise countryman Søren Kierkegaard:
"To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself."
Embrace the courage to define and choose your own path in life. Remember that the journey itself is just as important as the destination and to sometimes let the compass of your heart guide you instead of the ration of your mind.
Ask yourself if is time to step into your own power and create a life that reflects your truest self. You have my full confidence, curiosity and trust!
Love,
Sille
